Bandit Industries, Inc. was selected as the 2010 World Trader of the Year by the West Michigan World Trade Assn. in recognition of their impressive global success and strategy. Sales Manager Casey Gross and International Sales Manager Felipe Tamayo traveled to Grand Rapids, Michigan to receive the prestigious award, presented by WMWTA Board Member Thomas Palumbo.
The award recognizes Bandit Industries commitment to international trade, and highlights the deliberate steps taken to achieve their success in the global market. Bandit saw a 200% increase in their international sales volume in 2009.
While the first Brush Bandit chipper was born in 6,000-square-foot repair shop in 1983, the company now operates out of a 240,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Remus, Michigan. The company remains privately owned by founder Mike Morey Sr., his wife Dianne and his cousin Jerry Morey who serves as the company’s chief executive officer. Their custom-made chippers and grinders sell for between $10,000 and $750,000 depending on the engine size and capacity.
The machines are sold through a network of more than 170 dealers, 51 of which are located outside the country. Traditional markets for their products include the forest, tree care, and landscaping industries, but increasingly the machines are used to assist in biomass energy production.
