LEHR Eco TrimmerThe propane-powered LEHR Eco Trimmer recently received a Clean Air Excellence Award from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Clean Air Act Advisory Committee during an awards program in Washington, DC.

According to studies by the Southwest Research Institute, the trimmer emits up to 70% less hydrocarbons and 96% fewer toxins and carcinogens than gas-powered products, according to studies by the Southwest Research Institute. According to officials, the Eco Trimmer already meets or exceeds EPA small engine regulations scheduled to go into effect in 2010 and 2011.

The Clean Air Excellence Awards recognize innovative efforts toward achieving cleaner air. Winners must reduce pollutant emissions, offer sustainable outcomes and provide a model for others to follow. In 2009, the LEHR Eco Trimmer was one of only seven new green technologies to receive the award.
