Central Boiler Outdoor Wood Furnace Models Receive EPA 2020 Step 2 Certification

Central Boiler began operating in 1984 and is the premier manufacturer of quality outdoor wood and wood pellet furnaces. One of its many industry-leading accomplishments was the production of the first EPA program qualified outdoor furnace in 2007. Now they add EPA 2020 Step 2 Certification to their list of accomplishments with the Classic Edge HDX model.

Central Boiler’s Classic Edge HDX tops the EPA database as the most efficient cord-wood burning hydronic heater, also known as an outdoor wood furnace. Along with the high efficiency and clean-burning benefits, the Classic Edge HDX models are engineered to be the most convenient way to heat with wood and the simplest to operate. With its FireStar combustion controller and maintenance-free components, the Classic Edge HDX works for everybody “right out of the box,” requiring no complicated settings to adjust.

Preheated air is added around the base of the fire and as the wood begins to gasify, the gases are added to the extremely hot oxygen from the patented air charge tube. Final combustion takes place as these gases move downward to the after burner where a swirling vortex called a “fireball” and extremely high temperatures aid in complete combustion. This entire process gives this furnace its high efficiency and extremely low emissions. The design optimizes the transfer of heat from the extremely hot gases to the water, producing exceptionally high thermal efficiency with low emissions per btu of heat output. Central Boiler’s Classic Edge HDX works with almost any existing heating system. Controlled by a thermostat, it provides an even heat throughout a home and other buildings and eliminates uneven temperatures experienced from traditional wood heat.
