Dixie Chopper Mowers Ceasing Production
Alamo Group, parent company of Dixie Chopper, is ceasing production of the line, according to a 2026 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Alamo acquired Dixie Chopper in 2019. The wind down of the Dixie Chopper product line and dealer network is to be concluded by April 1, 2027.
In the filing the company said the decision came as part of its ongoing review of its production portfolio and it estimates it will incur about $15-20 million in charges in the third quarter of 2026 in connection to this action. That includes $1-4 million in cash expenditures “related to inventory returns, contractual purchase commitments and other associated costs.”
Alamo made a similar filing with the SEC earlier this fall relating to the Boxer-branded line of compact loaders, mini skid steers and related attachments.
In a letter to dealers dated Oct. 1, Alamog Group Ag Americas President James Grooms said:
“I want to take a moment to personally reaffirm what we’ve been discussing: our focus at Alamo Group Ag Americas is squarely on our core cutting products across Bush Hog and RhinoAg. These products are the backbone of our business, and we are channeling our energy into improving output, sharpening quality, and strengthening the reliability you count on.
“We recognize that transitions can create uncertainty. That’s why I want you to hear directly from me — our recent moves this week are not signs of distraction, but proof of our commitment. We are focusing on what built these brands and what continues to make them strong.
“Although we’re losing a good brand, this step allows us to concentrate fully on the core agriculture business of Alamo Group Ag Americas and deliver even better results for you.”
In 2025 Alamo Group closed its RhinoAg facility in Gibson City, Ill., and would consolidate operations with the Bush Hog facility in Selma, Ala.
