Honda NC Facility Shuts Down Temporarily
Honda Power Equipment Mfg., Inc. (HPE) announced on March 25 that it is adjusting production at its plant in Swepsonville, NC. This is due to parts supply issues related to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. HPE suspended production for seven days on Thursday, March 26. HPE makes a variety of power equipment products, including general purpose engines, lawnmowers, water pumps, snow throwers, generators and mini-tillers.
Honda will continue to monitor the availability of supplier parts, evaluate conditions and make additional adjustments as necessary. HPE will continue full pay for all of its associates and contingent workers during this time. Approximately 29,400 Honda production associates in North America are affected by the temporary suspension. In addition, Honda will utilize this time to continue deep cleaning its production facilities and common areas to further protect associates upon their return to the plants.
