After unveiling the prototype Honda Autonomous Work Vehicle (AWV) at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nev. in some of the applications its has been deployed in during the past year, including firefighting, search and rescue, agricultural activities and even solar farm maintenance, Honda officials said they are seeking potential business and technology partners to further test and develop the AWV prototype off-road vehicle, which was designed by Honda R&D Americas.
The AWV project is part of the Honda Powersports Group, and uses a Honda ATV chassis with four-wheel drive system. The prototype vehicle features GPS and sensor-based autonomy capable of guiding the unit in almost any environment. It also has a rail accessory mount system for limitless accessories and attachments and onboard power plug-ins.
Honda says that its compact size and off-road capabilities make it highly maneuverable and perfect for a variety of locations, from dense forests to urban pedestrian zones.
