OPPAA Scholarship Fund Awards $7,000 To 2026 Recipients

For more than 25 years, the Outdoor Power Parts and Accessories Assn. (OPPAA) Scholarship Fund has supported deserving students from OPPAA member-company families as they pursue higher education and prepare for future success. Since its inception, the Fund has granted more than 80 scholarships totaling $177,000, reflecting the industry’s continued commitment to investing in the next generation.

This year, the OPPAA Scholarship Fund is pleased to award three scholarships totaling $7,000 to members of its 2026 class of recipients, each of whom demonstrated strong academic commitment, personal initiative, and a clear dedication to continuing their education.

The 2026 award recipients are Erica Wasson of Glennville, Ga.; Matthew Wickstrom of St. Paul, Minn.; and Matt Noren of Big Lake, Minn. Their selection reflects the Trustees’ recognition of their deserving efforts, educational goals, and potential to make meaningful contributions in their chosen paths.

The educational charity fund is designed to advance the academic pursuits of employees and the children of employees who are employed by OPPAA member companies. The 2026 recipients, representing Ascentek, Rotary Corp., and The Toro Co., were selected from an impressive group of applicants whose aspirations and commitment to education exemplify the purpose of the scholarship program.

The OPPAA Scholarship Fund governing body includes the following Trustees: Sue Chaney, K-C Sales; Scott Rutledge, Medart Engine; Darold Dunham, Power Distributors; Ed Nelson, Rotary Corp.; and Jim Depolo, VP Racing Fuels. Staff include Brandon Martin and Suzanne Shomers of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI).

Fund support is provided by gifted donations. The OPPAA Scholarship Fund is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with members, and generous donors, making a lasting impression with their contributions.
