Before designing a single upgrade, the engineering team behind Next-Gen Vanguard engines went straight to the source: Turf pros working in the field. They listened to what was slowing businesses down, where engines needed to work harder and what it takes to keep crews productive.
It starts with the industry-exclusive advanced patented Oil Guard system, which delivers up to 500 hours of engine run time between oil changes. For many pros, that can mean months of uninterrupted uptime without stopping for oil service. Less time in the shop means more time on the job—and lower maintenance costs along the way. Phil Langolf, Foreman of Great Outdoors Landscaping, calls the Oil Guard system “one of the best innovations in commercial lawn technology ever.”
Heat can take a serious toll on engine performance, especially during long, demanding summer days. That’s why Vanguard engineers put a major focus on cooling. Updated cylinder heads with additional cooling fins improve airflow, while a redesigned chopper screen and housing help move air more efficiently throughout the engine. Together, these upgrades can help engines run up to 60° cooler under demanding conditions.
The result? Consistent, reliable performance when the days are long, temperatures are high and there’s still plenty of work to get done. Next-Gen Vanguard engines are built to take on tough jobs, too. Stronger cranking starters and more robust wire harnesses add durability in harsh terrain and heavy-duty applications, helping pros spend less time dealing with equipment and more time getting the job done.
